Leaf Collection
Leaves will be collected curbside the week beginning Monday, November 16, 2009 and ending Friday, November 20, 2009. There is a 12 bag limit. The bags must be curbside by 7:00AM on your usual day of trash collection.  The leaves will be collected by Northside Carting, not Public Works as in the past.
All leaves must be placed in brown biodegradable bags.  You can purchase biodegradable bags at any local hardware store.  For more information call the Public Works Dept. at 773-6157.

Thanksgiving  Holiday
Town of Exeter employees will be observing the Thanksgiving Day Holiday on Thursday November 26 and Friday November 27, 2009. All town offices will be closed.
Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday trash/recycle pick-up will be on schedule. Thursday pick-up will be Friday, Friday pick-up will be Saturday. For more information call the Public Works Dept. at 773-6157.

Holiday Open House
The Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce is holding their 22nd Annual Holiday Open House on Thursday, December 3, 2009 in downtown Exeter from 5:00PM - 8:00PM.  Festivities will include the lighting of the downtown, wagon rides, Santa & more!  Also on December 3rd is the Festival of Trees held at the Town Hall beginning at 10:00AM. Exeter Holiday Parade
The Exeter Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 (inclement weather date Sunday, December 6th). Parade starts at 5:30PM at Osram Sylvania on Portsmouth Avenue, and winds it's way thru downtown past Swasey Parkway to Lincoln Street. For more information, or to volunteer to help that day, go to www.exeterholidayparade.org or call Darius at 686-8131.

Transfer Station Vehicle Permits for 2010
2010 Transfer Station Vehicle Permits are now available for purchase at the Town Office at the Reception Desk.  You need ID (driver's license) showing that you live in Exeter (or a property tax bill if you own property but do not live here) and the license plate number of the vehicle you will be using.
You can purchase your permit now, but it is not valid for use until January 2010. Cost is $7.00 each.


Recycle Bin News
The Town is offering a new 65 gallon recycle bin (with wheels) for $45.00 each. These bins are available at the Public Works Dept. on Newfields Road only. Please call Public Works at 773-6157 before going there to purchase a bin to be sure they have some in stock.

You can also purchase the regular 14 gallon recycle bin at the Town Office for $8.00 each.

Exeter River Drawdown
The Town will open the gate on Great Dam and commence lowering of the Exeter River on Monday, November 2, 2009.  This will affect the lower section of the Exeter River and Little River.  This drawdown is planned to last approximately four (4) weeks.
The purpose of the drawdown is to determine the impacts to groundwater levels and potential withdrawal rates for the municipal Gilman and Stadium wells.  Monitoring of groundwater and the surface water levels will be conducted and results included into the Hydrogeologic Report for Gilman and Stadium Wells and the Water Supply Alternatives Study.

Christmas Day Holiday
Town of Exeter employees will be observing the Christmas Day Holiday on Friday, December 25, 2009. All town offices will be closed.

State Motor Vehicle Fees Increase
During the 2009 Legislative year House Bill 2 (HB2), regarding the state portion of certain motor vehicle fees amended these fees beginning August 1, 2009. Click here for more information.

Are you a trails user? We want to hear from you!
The Planning Dept, Conservation Commission and members of the community are working together to develop a town-wide Trail Management Plan.  The purpose of this plan is to guide future trail development, determine trail management and create a connected trail network.
We could use your help identifying the needs of trail users and evaluating the trail potential of conservation areas. We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30PM in the Nowak Room at the Town Office.

Northside Carting Trash/Recycle Holiday Information
Northside Carting is our trash/recycle hauler effective June 2,2008. Trash/recycle will not be picked up on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day
If your normal trash/recycling pick-up day falls on one these days,your trash/recycling will be picked up on the following day.

Notice about Fairpoint FIOS TV to Exeter residents:
FIOS TV service is not currently available in Exeter.  Fairpoint is doing a video beta testing in a very limited number of homes in Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, ME.  The Town continues to work with Fairpoint and will be updating residents as the company gets closer to offering a standard video product.
